Wipers stuck up. Fixed

Went to use the wipers and they did a half pass and stuck up. I can hit the switch and they try to move but won't go down. 1400 miles and first warranty claim.

Wouldn't they go back down when told or on a power cycle?

Sounds like you put them in service mode / car wash mode.
Try pushing engine start/stop three times and then pulling down windshield wipers + hold for three seconds.

A car wash that makes contact with the car or touch less?
If it’s a car wash with brushes that make contact, then it’s possible they caused damage.

It was after the brushes. Unfortunately.

Dealer found my issue. It was my tuner. The box for the JB4 was blocking the wiper motor.
Got read the act about how if they read the ECU that will be reported to BMW and it will be in the data base and it will void my warranty. She didn't like it when I mentioned the Magnuson Moss.

Did you really take your car for a warranty claim with JB4 connected? 🤔

It's one thing to cite the law, but it's an entirely different thing to actually employ it. Expect BMW to deny any warranty claim for the powertrain. The B58 is a robust engine, so hopefully you won't run into any issues that warranty would've covered. Glad to hear your wipers are fixed.

It wasn't actully connected to the system. I had it disconnected from the ODB. I really wasn't expecting the JB4 to be blocking the wiper motor.

Her explanation was even if it wasn't seen with their eyes the ECU would still register that it had been adjusted by the JB4 and would be picked up by their scan.
Honestly not sure if she was feeding me a line or not. My first dealings with BMW, so I don't know if the ECU will actully register the mod or not.

She did say as of right now BMW doesn't know. Just her and the tech. They didn't read the ECU.

I imagine you may be able to slip under the radar with smaller warranty work, but rest assured, if you blow your engine, they will check, and they will find it.

That's what I'm curious about. I thought the piggyback setups weren't detectable if they are removed before service.
From the JB4 site " Installs and removes without a trace."

I mean obviously if I needed anything done that was powertrain related I would pull it off and reconnect back to stock. But if they truly are registering something in the ECU then isn't Burger MS using a little false advertising?

My information is all second hand, so I certainly can be misinformed, therfore I won't go so far as to make any assumptions about BMS. From my reading around, a piggyback isn't easy to detect, however, if they decide to dig deep enough, they will find what they are looking for.
