The new tachometer looks terrible in my opinion. Both versions of it in fact. BMW really needs to get their shit straight.

The wait is high, but some design solutions are questionable:
— The gear shifter itself doesn't look better, than the current one. I was hoping G20 will get the one from G30. Hopefully, the shifter in this photos is an optional sport one (2TB). — The gear indicator on the console (not the shifter itself) looks really ugly. — Which finger they suppose people to press the parking button with? — The AC and music controls changing their places may have sense (I personally don't change the temp that much, but sometimes do press the "next song" button, which is now located quite far from driver), but will take time to get used to. Other than that it is shaping very nicely! The F30 when in was announced had a lot of new design solutions, like the headlights-to-grille or layered interior. I hope the G20 will be surprising and fresh, other than lazy and predictable. |

I really dislike the speedo and tachometer needles rotating in opposite directions. Hopefully there'll be a configurable option for the cluster that shows traditional dials!

Looks promising, much better than expected. The gear shifter is horrible though, Looks like the one in the F90.

The one thing I like about BMW's computer screens is the height they are at as it means I don't have to lower my eyes much off the road ahead. Now with BMW lowering the screen down means you'll lose contact with the road ahead. Not a great safety move by BMW.

The HUD shows me everything I need and makes the instrument cluster and nav screen mostly redundant. Tach could be helpful in MT cars if they are as quiet as the G30 is, otherwise i dont even need that, just shift by feel and sound |

I am not encouraged by seeing an electronic E-brake. I wish there was some way they could keep a manual one on the next M3 but that will probably be too much to ask.

Looks like BMW continues to put the media controls on the wrong side of the steering wheel...
I am not buying this car ! There is simply no logic to this decision, and it is poor form and function... the worse ergonomics, especially for a manual car. I am definitely NOT buying this car .

Hope the fine air temp adjuster remains a wheel and not some stupid sub menu. As for those worrying about steering wheel buttons, I don't expect we will see this generation, but it can't be long until we get custom/programmable OLED icon buttons in cars Digital dash will probably become exploitable as a paid for download if you don't like existing dials. |

Looking at the spy shots I see tow bar in a hybrid
I kind of dislike lower screen position but I can think it is for better usability of touch screen.

The important information in that thread is that the 2 Series GC is known to be using a different platform from the 2 Series coupe and convertible. This now confirmed fact means that there is no "simple" business case for an M2 GC. Specifically, the following two factors apply: a) there is no UKL M program b) there is no RWD 4-door 2 Series program This means an M2 GC, be it either RWD or FWD/AWD form will with a very high level of certainty not happen next generation. To bring this back around to the your post I first quoted, nothing about the 3 Series - and thus the M3 - growing yet again opens any new doors. This fact did not open a door for this generation and the same door is still going to be closed for the next generation. The doors that would lead to a sub-3-Series vehicle suitable for homologation into an M product will, unfortunately, remain tightly shut. Does this mean it is 100%, completely impossible? Technically, no. But, by far the odds do not favor any such thing. The chances are tiny at best, and the slowly growing 3 Series form factor, again most unfortunately, does nothing to effect those chances. |
