Where did you read that? All indications here have been that it's not getting any bigger and if anything, it might be by an inch. Either way, it's going to weigh less than the F30 which is more important for driving dynamics.
This.

Word seems to be:
-Overall length staying about the same.
-Wheelbase slight increase
-Track got an increase (now similar to the f32/36 4 series, which everyone loves the look of)

Overall effect should be a visually lower and more aggressive stance

Don't forget height!! Xdrive models will now sit the same as the rwd counterpart for all suspension configurations.

Oh shit my bad, I just read the article again and it clearly states nothing is official yet.

This is what the article said though:
"The new 3 Series has grown in most key dimensions. Nothing is official, but Munich insiders suggest overall length is up by 60mm to around 4703mm. Some 20mm of this is said to be concentrated within a lengthened wheelbase, which has increased to almost 2830mm, up from 2810mm."

This seems to me like the slightly darker Ferric Grey* matte shade that is found on all M Performance models, hence why I'm pretty sure this is an M340i / M340d

The regular non M Performance 3 Series (and the regular non Competition M3) will be getting the usual bright chrome grille surround.

Edit: Cerium Grey.

I sure hope it doesn't grow by 60mm, that's almost 2.5 inches!!!

Don't expect that it will be far off, if there is a 20mm increase in wheelbase. G30 increased 44mm in length, for a 7mm increase in wheelbase.

I think he means the shape of the newer lights isn't to his preference.

On that note, I think it depends on the car - the Hex shape looks nice on the M2/M2C for example, but less so on other models IMO.

Well since BMW has started using its corona rings light signature to suggest two double eyes, unfortunately quite a number of other brands have followed suit.

Volkswagen

Renault

Jaguar

Skoda?

Etc.

I'm curious, was there any flame surfacing before Chris Bangle? Obviously it's everywhere now.

Also did BMW invent the sharkfin antenna?

I'm having a vague recollection back in my E90 days in 2007 that all of that was distinctive BMW stuff.

- "Boss, we have the most iconic and beautiful signature in headlamps: the angel eyes. Shouldn't we use them since they are our history, our legacy?"
- "Nah, use those KIA Stinger daylight lights, we already took their grill didn't we?"..... "Oh, and don't forget to connect the grille with them again, I want to piss off every fan out there. And the hood line, the hood line is a must!"

I agree. This looks promising and it might be the last chance for bmw to keep the title in this segment

F10 = 4910mm / G30 = 4936mm... a difference of 26mm (1 inch)

If 5er only grew an inch this smaller car shouldn’t really grow more than that!? Extended wheelbase doesn’t necessarily mean more length if the overhangs are shortened!

I don't think it's the enthusiasts not voting with their wallets. I've been certainly doing my part. However, the enthusiast market is tiny compared to the mass market which BMW is going after with more SUV models than I can count with one hand.

Unfortunately, the 1er (and X1) is now a FWD/AWD platform. If I wanted a FWD car, I am saving $ and getting a GTI instead. I was hoping for an M2 GC. Not that I am a fan of the GC idea, but I was looking for a small 4-door sedan (probably the size of e46). Now I have compromised with a 5er for family duties and an enthusiast 6MT model for fun.
