Very nice Scott- when is the G20 likely to go on sale here in the U.S.?

The small headlights look really bad with such a large grill. When did the BMW design team start copying Jeep Cherokees?

Not liking this its way too VAG looking plus if it keeps the Fxx series seat position and horrible steering rack it's a definite no. Yes it needs to be the latest tech and a good firm restyle but BMW please bring back the feel of drive the Exx series has and it will be a much improved vehicle and not so soft and generic feeling and looking if we wanted that we would buy an A4, Passat, Superb or Jag XE.

Not a fan at all.

These latest fronts are starting to look just too fat and busy. They're lacking the sleek designs... and just not liking the headlights bumping into the grille. Moreover, if you look at the new G30, the hood is very odd... dips down only partway in between the kidneys... leaving this weird, just black (non-paint color) part between the kidneys. The whole thing is starting to look like a hot mess.

My next BMW is likely to be a 6GC - last of the beautiful designs from this current outgoing generation of BMWs.

He does.

By the way the render he provided us is just a general idea of how the car will be more angular, in no way SCOTT26 mentioned that it is how the car will look like...

For anybody interested, I've just done a render based on a spy shot here: http://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1325767

From what I can deduct of the spy shots, yes it looks like the G20 will be more angular, but it will also be very similar to the G30 5 series, with a gentle evolution...

I'll be refining my render hopefully based on more information by BMW insiders...

Cheers!

The grill is getting a bit big. The smaller slimmer kidneys are better. Otherwise looks pretty good.

Thanks. Did Scott do this render himself? Is it internal? Has he actually seen the car? Is he privy to this information or just speculating like the rest of us? Not asking in an aggressive way, just curious. I've seen a lot of his posts but have never gotten an explanation as to whether his information is his own assumptions/speculations, or the company's.

He certainly has seen the car himself! However he will never show actual internal designs but instead use renders from magazines to tease us enthusiasts and point on the general direction of the future car. Of course the actual render he used there is a little extreme and not realistic, but made the point that detailing for the next G30 will be more angular whilst evolutionary from the G30 5 Series... See my render. By the way he succeeded in his baiting based on your reaction ;-)

That's unfortunately where trends are going... The next 1 series sedan will be the same size as past 3 series albeit with a BIG difference FWD...

I just hope the headlights aren't that under sized.

Well, when the new 1er comes out, used M140i will be cheaper, haha. Gotta look at things from the positive side
P.S. I hope the 3er looks more like your render than scotts render, I absolutely hate this Audi look...

I like the looks. What I don't like is that it's bigger than the car it replaces.

This front end, if it materializes, will be disgusting. The Japanese-styled headlights are incredibly small compared to the ever-growing kidney grills. DAFUQ is wrong with the Munich designers??? Are declining US sales not enough of a hint, if you're trying to build the ultimate ugly machine, job well done!

Sorry to rant but as a BMW enthusiast, you lost me with the front end, fake sound and poorly sorted out traction of the current M3 so I switched to a 911. Now THAT is a driving machine. Go back to your roots and grow a set or more people will leave the marque...

Those kidneys

Oh gosh, those kidney grills are getting bigger and bigger... Is there really that big of a radiator behind those over-size grills?

Also, why design them that big and have a mechanism to close it for reduce drag and eventually fail and cost A LOT to fix?
