There are more than enough new stance, pimp my ride, and college freshman drivers to compensate for the lost core demographic that put BMW on the map - drivers of "The Ultimate Driving Machine". Hard to imagine two more orthogonal demographics. In the meantime, management unilaterally surrendered the compact sport sedan segment, defined and owned by Munich, in exchange for... trying to catch Audi and Prius? You're right - pretty elementary business knowledge! Can I hire you? I prefer being remembered for building a great company and product. Even exceptional. Today's BMW ain't that.

Edit: Per above, I think people would be fine paying a little more if they got better dynamics, like a Porsche. It’s clear BMW can make a great M3, a better 3 series, but why is it taking 5 years into a generation cycle - M5 though is getting good marks, I hope the same for the 3, now somewhat back on topic. That’s what concerns me. Come on BMW! And hey, I’ll probably keep buying BMW and wondering why this or that couldn’t be better. Because i won’t buy a p-car unless it’s a gt3, seems like they have a higher ratio of d-bags than BMW. Last edited by bjcarls; 02-22-2018 at 08:05 PM.. |

I’m so glad about that, each to their own, but for me that’s one of the best bits of current BMW design!! These don’t look to be stepped like the current lights, but just a straight bottom all the way to the grille...

Looks pretty good to me, from what I can see! Aesthetically it should improve (& the current car still looks good imo) should be lighter and should drive better so what’s to complain about!?

I like the Active Cruise Control/front collision sensor being tucked back. Hopefully this change will reduce snow/ice buildup from disabling its functionality.

So the Porsche special editions are worth it...but the BMW? A GTS is the best they can do, and are now going for under 100K. I’d rather have something based off a true sports car any day, rather than a 2 door version of a mass produced sedan...cough, GTS, cough

I was going to say this!! The tips show its probably a 330 M Sport. Look at the closed air intakes where the aux radiator goes too.

Firstly, the car is testing with camouflage, so it's highly improbable that we are seeing production wheels, secondly, the car in these photos is not the M340i

Clockwork
I only came here to laugh at the inevitable whining about a car still under camo.

decade (came out in late 08). And they hit the nail with the current M3. The new 5er and M5 look a bit too complicated and fussy to me but I bet that with time I'll warm up to them more. Just like I did with the i3. Lol |

I almost jumped into an S3 until I drove it and looked at it from all sides for a solid 5 minutes and my 2013 m sport 335 looked so much better and drove better. Not too much out there honestly even though many advertise but I would sum it up like this if looking elsewhere off the 3 series platform especially away from the M3 that match the driving experience and dynamic department. 1. Quadrifoglio 2. ATS-V 3. C63AMG You can say whatever you want but less M3 owning and driving a lesser model such as 335i/340i the only rival that seriously comes close is the Base Cadillac ATS. C43 and base Giulia are rubbish. Audi forget it. Lexus not even close. So bottom line if he goes to the S4 he'll be back like you said and he can look at these two posts .
