You can already tell that the headlights will be bigger than this

It's a rendering on autobild so we will see. For the last decade and more it's important to see any new BMW in M Sport because otherwise its looks anemic in base form.

The headlights do appear to be very Audi-like and that is not a good thing.

BMW will not mess up the 3 Series and they really started the "corporate face"
with the Corona lights on the E39 LCI and VW "Audi" has been angling to mimic anyway they can to incorporate their own lighting signature.

I liked it as soon as I saw it. Looks meatier, more substantial and aggressive. Not cheap. I smoked some crack, and I still like it !

I like it way more than the g30, a little more than the e90 (e92 excluded) and a lot less than the e46 and e30.

Design Direction

If BMW want to seek the evolutionary route, why are they radically changing or abandoning the iconic round lights lights design and keeping everything else similar?

Also, the biggest issue currently against Mercedes and others is the interior which although functional and quality oriented is plain again compared to Mercedes. Will this be finally addressed?

As usual, people complain. Then the eyes will warm up to it and people will like it. It's just the way things go.

If the G20 follows the 5er more than the F30, it's going to be a hit. If not, prepare for more moans and groans. To be honest, the headlight is probably the worst feature on the F30 for me. I didn't like it when the F30 was revealed, still don't like it today.

What Mercedes doing what they have with the C-Class, the F30 looks even more pedestrian than ever.

I agree 100% i can't stand the headlights on the F30 no matter how much i try.

Many brands use similar design language and to me they basically look identical when it comes basic shape.
I really like when car manufacturers deviate from these similarities, which is rare but when they don't it makes them very homogenous IMO
