Average brake costs M340
just hit 40k and was told my brakes need to be replaced asap by the dealer at my oil change service (its amazing that all my other 3 series over the years never needed brakes while it was covered under the maintenance program even at 50k+hmmmm)
anyway they came back with the following costs- front brake pads+rotors= $2324 rear pads= $723 plus brake fluid flush for $325 what a joke.... just trying to get an idea when I start to shop around LA for an independent shop to do the work They also suggested a coolant flush ($325) I love how a $99 oil change turned into a $4k proposed bill and $6k with new tires. |

Why I always purchase ultimate care plus. Just had mine done as it expired in 5 days. Front and rear discs and rotors, brake flush, oil change, cabin filter, wiper blades, and spark plugs. $0. 46k on mine but I’ve beeen super hard on this car. My 4 series didn’t need brakes until 85k. If you’re in warranty you can purchase it still. Surprised they didn’t give you that option when you went in easy sale for them.

Personally i would never listen to dealer recommendations. The car will alert you when it needs brakes via iDrive based on CBS. Id laugh at them about the coolant fush at 40k miles

Just hit 40k. Had my pads replaced a little early, but not by much and they had my car for something else, was told my rotors were good. I would take it somewhere else. Dealer told me I needed spark plugs at 35k. Please. They suck with that shit.

That is a truly incredible quote for brakes. Wow. I mean the parts aren't cheap in general (Bimmerworld OEM front overhaul kit is $715) but that's crazy markup and/or ridiculous labor quote.

iDrive will give you a countdown, 2,000 miles or so if memory serves, when they start getting low. At least that's what my fronts did. But yes, you will get alerted once the front or rear pads get to min.

Well the B58’s do thrive with proactive preventative maintenance such as replacing plugs every 30k miles. Highly recommend. It’s a cheap service at any reputable Indy shop.
