Is that a single piece for the kidney grills? Kind of looks like an elongated heart when viewing from the front lol

No way I own a mint individual 2013 e92 m3 and I've had many chances to upgrade to an f30 or f80 m car and they are all shit tbh and remind me and drive exactly like my girlfriends Lexus IS300. By looking at this design I can say for certain I will be switching brands away from Bmw for my next car which is sad because since 2003 I've always had a 3 series in some form or other.. a shame really

BMW has one final opportunity to NOT lose a lot of BMW owners that refuse to go larger than an E90 and it's with the upcoming 2 series sedan...however it appears BMW is going to go with FWD/AWD which I believe will not recapture enthusiasts of the E30/E36/E46/E90 sedans. It seems to me that BMW NA isn't really aware that many 2 car garages simply don't support large vehicles like the F30 or larger easily. I opted for a pre-owned E84 X1 Sdrive because it is the closest vehicle in the BMW lineup to an E36/E46 sedan and is RWD only. I made my decision after seeing the F48 X1 platform. That's my inclination as well, at first I thought what the heck, but it makes sense. Look at the current 320/328 standard headlights and you get the quad LED DRL and halogen housing. Now with this it looks like we'll see the quad DRL still, but projection LED as standard. Similar to the new 5er, there will likely be an iconic adaptive LED offering as the top tier lighting system.

The IS300 had, what, 200 BHP and FWD? I drove one twice, and that was enough for me. Perhaps the F30 can be compared to your girlfriend's car...but not the F80...

1M hatch or M2 sedan/GC in RWD guise would seriously be my next car.

On paper, comparable to the E46 330i, but I must emphasize the on paper bit. Quote:
It's quite amazing that BMW fail to see a market a "small" RWD sedan, sad considering small RWD sedans were what put BMW on the map in the first place (particularly in the US).

Correct. I actually think the proportions (on the Msport) look promising and the headlight design with the notch on the bottom could end up looking cool and tail design is tough to make out but looks unique. I guess I'm in the minority among all of the purist doomsdayers who crave the mediocre performance of past generations around here but I'm optimistic about this car.

BMW Abandons 3 Series Design Signature Characteristic
I suspect that I may be the only person who cares, but did anyone else notice the character line no longer runs the length of the car and through the door handles? Instead, the new generation appears to use two character lines that arch rather than a single line running the length (almost) of the body.
I think that new design feature sucks, but considering the love the SUV/CUV design cues, I'm betting that I'm in the minority. However, the leading edge of the new hood returns to the e90 cut. So much better than the square cut f30 hood. Each time I get into an e46 or an e90 generation car, I realize how numb the steering is on the f30 cars and how the location of the controls have now been largely made common with every mass produced car. Seems unfortunate. Driving an e46 today, somehow the car still feels special even in entry-level trim. The f30 cars, somehow, just never feel special. Technically competent- yes. But the driving experience no longer feels as unique to the brand. Hopefully, the next gen brings back some unique characteristics. But the move to character lines reminiscent of every other manufacture foreshadows a different outcome. -Michael |

Can't wait for the reveal! Seems like a lot of people are ready for the G20 as the 3 series could use a fresh look. I personally love my F30 still.

Side note, kind of surprised BMW is still going with the headlight connected to the grille. I thought they were going to start moving away from it based on the 8er, new X3/4, and Z4 concept. |
