OEM pads to HPS 5.0 pads

For those of you who went from OEM brake pads to Hawk HPS 5.0 pads. Did you remove the OEM material from the rotor, If so what did you use? If not, did you notice any issues such as brake fade or noise?

My Indy shop cleaned rotors with brake cleaner, soap and water, and then broke in my new pads. We repeat this process each time I track and post-track service, switching from track pad to daily pad.

I’m lazy. Cleaned the rotors with brake cleaner. Did the prescribed brake in. Everything is fine.
