Has anyone who owned the mkI 24-70 2.8L upgraded to the mkII version? A buddy of mine who just jumped back into photography after a 15 year hiatus, did so with a 24-70 2.8, 16-35, 50 1.4, and 100macro. Both the 16-35 and 24-70 are mkII versions which he's telling me are worth the price of admission. I've been waiting for prices to come down, but i'm not sure if that's going to happen anytime soon.
But with those lenses being his first experience with digital photography, and photography at all in the last 15 years, i'm skeptical of his opinion. (even though back in the day he was a borderline pro-photog) Just looking for additional opinions from people who actually spent their money on the lens.
