To make the results more conclusive, it was bright and sunny outside during my AM commute while I drove back home in an afternoon thunderstorm. With the thunderstorm, my headlights then did switch on and hence the brightness of both screens did indeed go down. But increasing the brightness dial brought them back to full brightness.
I'm sorry if that's not the result you were hoping I'd have. Perhaps you could double-check the screen brightness with your headlights on vs off. Also, maybe try testing both outside and in a parking garage somewhere.
