I had an issue for over a week as the Andriod BMW app was not able to connect to the vehicle.
Try this
1)Starting from the idrive main menu, scroll down to the Apps tab and click once with the large rotary idrive button. Then press the 'option' button on the center console. select 'Update services' and wait.
2)Restart the idrive with the radio on/off button by holding it down to power down. Then press again to turn back on.
Note: May also need to uninstall and re-install the BMW connect app on your smart phone.

Don't know if this was in earlier threads but, this worked for me.
