Originally, I placed my gasket at the top of the cap housing thinking that was the normal place for it. After 48 hours of on and off troubleshooting and oil coming from the housing (sometimes a tad bit, other times pouring out- ugh), I removed the whole housing and finally realized the gasket sits in the large groove below the top of the housing.

There are quite a few videos online about how to change the oil and filter. Its super easy and straight forward. Honestly not sure you managed that.
