What a detailed, well written review on these three cars! Superb. Thanks a lot.
It seems to be unanimous among anyone who's driven the Alfa, that it's the best representative of a sports sedan outside of the more focused M-car, AMG, RS, etc class. I guess you have to make the leap to the quadrofoglio in order to get the full experience, but then you're getting what seems like a special engine. It also requires a more substantial investment unto the world of Alfa, which is going to put off many would be buyers, regardless of whether it's truly deserved.

It's strange how Mercedes has seemed to become more "bmw-like" in some models, sacrificing some comfort for a more spirited drive, and bmw has become more stereotypically Mercedes like a turn more toward big, tech focused, soft riding cars.
