Alright ladies and gents... The wait was worth it... And on my birthday of course, look what came in today...
The back and forth with BMW on getting the actual part number, getting it mastered in the system and finally in my hands has been quite the journey...
A quick process of how I got it... If you use a VIN in ETK that has the mesh effect, it defaulted to the vertical slat grille...
So, here is what I did...
- Took a VIN from a car on a lot in Canada that had the grille from factory
- Created an IDS ticket through BMW (employees know what that is)
- Stated I had a client traveling through town from Canada and road debris "damaged" his grille (even though the VIN I provided is still for sale in Canada)
- Told them that when using the VIN, it defaults to vertical slat part number
- But, if you look up the same options without a VIN, a different part number shows up, which I provided to them
- BMW Parts Consultant Group then created a TSARA case (again, employees would know what that is) to Germany to investigate
- They confirmed that the number I found was correct
- Part number is now mastered - but still shows it can not be ordered at this time in DCSnet to the states (employees know what that is)
and nearly a month later, it's here!!!
Cars equipped with the camera/assistant should end in "475"
