The manual does in fact have advantages, it retains loyal enthusiast customers like myself. 10 BMWs so far. And it looks like I will be placing an order for my 11th soon.
Screw being faster. I'd buy a Tesla if all I wanted was 0-60 and lap times.
The manual is an experience. It's visceral. It's a characteristic of BMW M cars since inception.

Actually. I remember discussing this issue on Bimmerfest many years ago. Someone with inside knowledge supposedly revealed that BMW management DOES have BMW employees lurking on Bimmerpost and Bimmerfest and reporting trends back to management. The take away was that decisions ARE sometimes made based on feedback, complaints and praise mentioned on these two forums. So, Bimmerpost may be one of the reasons the manual is remaining an option on the M2/M3/M4 for the foreseeable future.
