I did some simple maths (which admittedly is not my strong point) but I can't get anywhere near similar costs.
Seems my car costs about £1.80 a charge (on a standard non-ToU tariff at the moment), and say I get 25 miles, thats 7.2p a mile.
Even in the coldest recent days I would get around 20 miles from a full charge, so 9p a mile.
Unleaded on average is say £117.7p/litre (according to Google, not bought any for ages so not entirely sure). Assume 40mpg, thats 13p a mile.
I think.
Yep bit to do with hassle but also to do with the length of my commute, car will do 55MPG using a full battery (23 miles) and rest on petrol. I drive 65 miles a day and the motorway is literally 1 mile down the road and my work is a mile off it at the other end. Without charging, I’ve seen figs of around 47-48 MPG.
We were having fuel around 107/l and I worked out it was saving me 40p per day which wasn’t worth the hassle. Have to admit that now it’s back up to 120/l I should probs re visit it!
