In 2013 I purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This was a face-lift to the previous year but had substantial upgrades, new front end, interior parts, 8 speed tranny (previous was a 5 speed), etc.
Though i had a few instances that required trips to the dealer, it was all done under warranty and the car was solid after the first year or so.
I feel like the G80 may be that way as well. If there are issues, take it to the dealer to fix, they'll give you a decent loaner and you should be set.
