Problem solved! Only waited on hold for 30 minutes and when connected I got a very pleasant and knowledgeable IRS agent. We pieced it all together. Comes down to a mis-flagged estimated payment in QuickBooks that prevented our accountant from seeing that payment had been made. So my wife actually paid a few thousand more in estimated taxes in 2019 than made it onto our filing. So, that money is coming back home. Nice.
