Estimated G80 fuel consumption/CO2 emissions

In some European countries the CO2 emissions are unfortunately a very important factor to take into account when purchasing a new car. To give an example, here in Belgium, the amount of taxes you pay depend on how much the car costs in combination with the CO2 emissions. The CO2 emissions will also be used to determine how much tax deductable the car is when purchased as a company car. It will also be used to determine how much additional tax you pay when registering the car. I have started this thread to see if we can more or less figure out what the expected CO2 emissions are going to be for the upcoming G80 Competition.

I know that this isn't scientifically but I have based myself on the doing the comparison with the X3 M40i, X3 M, G20 M340i to determine what the expected fuel consumption is going to be for the G80 Competition and then convert that to CO2 g/km to get an approximate.

X3 M40i (2019)

Engine: B58
Power: 354 HP
Torque: 500 Nm
Fuel consumption: 9.1 l / 100 KM
CO2 (combined): 207 g/KM

X3 M Competition

Engine: S58
Power: 510 HP
Torque: 600 Nm
Fuel consumption: 10.5 l / 100 KM
CO2 (combined): 239 g/KM

G20 M340i

Engine: B58
Power: 382 HP
Torque: 500 Nm
Fuel consumption: 7,5 l/100 KM
CO2 (combined): 172 g/KM

From the above it is not immediately clear which formula BMW is using to convert the CO2 (combined) to the fuel consumption in l/100 KM. To give an example according to the NEDC-cycle 172 g/KM converts to 7,3 l/100 KM yet on the press release BMW states in the footer that these numbers are according to WLTP and then converted back to NEDC (for the sake of comparibility).

Nevertheless when I put the above conversions CO2 (combined) to l/100 KM it seems like the conversions assume a weight somewhere between 2 276 and 2 293 grammes of CO2/liter of petrol.

If we then further assume that the S58 consumes more or less 1.4 l/100 KM more than the B58 (according to the numbers of the X3), this would mean that the expected fuel consumption of the G80 (competition) will be 7.5 l/100 KM (M340i) + 1.4 l/100 KM = 8.9 l/100 KM. This would be 0.2 l/100 KM less than the official fuel consumption for the F92. If true this would be crazy considering the bump in power output and torque.

If we then convert the hypothetical fuel consumption 8.9 l/100 KM to g/KM this would give a CO2 (combined) of somewhere between 202 and 204 g/KM.

The formula is:
CO2 g/KM = fuel consumption (l/100 KM) * weight in grammes CO2/liter / 100

Example:
CO2 g/KM = 8.9 l/100 KM * 2 273 grammes CO2/liter / 100
CO2 g/KM = 202 g/KM

G80 (Competition)
Engine: S58
Power: 510 HP
Torque: 600 Nm
Fuel consumption: 8.9 l/100 KM
CO2 (combined): 203 g/KM

This means that for people living in Belgium and to be more specific Flanders, and assuming that you buy the G80 competition as a company car for approximately 110 000 euro including 21% VAT TAX you would pay these amounts:

BIV (registration fee) = 3 398 euro
VB (yearly tax) = 897.09 euro / year
VAA* (gross) = 1 186,43 euro / month

*The VAA is a tax we pay as the company owner or employee when driving a company car which is based on some complex formula that takes into account the CO2 emissions, the price of the car (not taking into account discounts), the actual VAT you paid, the car's age, ... . According to our Belgian government this is the advantage you get because you don't have to pay for the car yourself but instead you pay a monthly tax. This means that your net salary will be lower and to know how much lower it is approximately the VAA (gross) divided by two. In this case your net salary would be 593 euro lower (1 186,43 euro / 2)
