I wonder (and somehow doubt) if any dealers have had a problematic car on a rolling road/dyno field. (Not sure the correct translation of "rullefelt") It would probably be dead easy to determine whether the noise is coming from the drive-train - gearbox, prop shaft bearing, etc. or if it's coming from the wheel arches. On a rolling road the front wheels wouldn't be spinning, which would take them out of the equation. They could even, when up to speed, put the car in neutral and turn off the engine to rule out the engine noise too.
