I used to get a lot of thumbs up for my E91 BEFORE I ended up making it into an E91 M3, back in 2012! More than half of those were NOT regular car guys. Even back then I felt there was an interest in wagons here in the US. Shame we lost out on the F11 also.
F11 is amazing. Give me an M550d to drive any day and I'd be a happy pig in shit.
