2007? They’ve been testing the waters on the “tweel” since late 199x. I remember seeing this nearly identical design from Michelin when I had my then brand new Z3 1.9L.
Seems like someone at Michelin goes through the old research files once every 10 years and go “hey this MIGHT be a good idea!”
