I lived with a 330i XDrive loaner for a week that had the base suspension. While I found it had great balance, the stock suspension just had too much movement/travel for driving it hard. It's fine for everyday, but get around 70% and I found it very floaty if there are any undulations mid corner. Great example of "zero body roll" being a matter of one's perspective. Honestly it's great for someone who doesn't really expect to ever push the car, but the base suspension wasn't right for me personally.
I also agree the tires needed more grip, however grippier tires would just overwhelm the suspension further.
