I've never driven BMW's xDrive cars before and I'm pleasantly surprised that the M340i still drives very much like a RWD. I remember reading somewhere that the differential is still rear-biased and the 4 wheels are activated when there is slippage detected.

Haven't pushed the car hard for obvious reasons but the engine is really responsive in Sport mode and turbo lag is hardly discernible. The car really moves even in higher gears. I had a run on the Autobahn and it was effortless to overtake and switch lanes.

The chassis and suspension is very much improved over the F30. The car really turns where it's pointed, not any worse than my F80 M3. I can't say with regards to power without being able to push the car harder. But it's by no means a slow poke.

I think I would be more than happy having this as my daily driver, with the instant tap of fun whenever needed.
