The rear quarter panel and the "Hofmeister Kink" does share a similar outline between the two vehicles but I wouldn't exactly call them a dead ringer.

I did not take it personally. . . and I'm sure I would have been torched at the stake if I said that M4 looked like the Shelby on a Shelby forum 😂
I really do like the current M4 iteration, and trying to buy into what BMW has in mind for the next. . . just not quite there yet based on renders presented to date. Like most, just cannot get past the front end.
