You'd probably be more likely to get pulled over for having that on the front of the car than for having no plate there.
Side note - after my first ED I was waiting for my custom plates to come in which were the same numbers as my ED plates so I drove around (the US) with my Euro plates on for a month with the paper the DMV sends you in the window as I was supposed to have. Must not have been in front of a cop the whole month.
