The fact that it was relatively cold outside is precisely the reason why your tire pressure went up dramatically. The same would not have happened on a warmer day.

Think about it. Cold air is denser, so you need more air to reach a certain PSI threshold on a cold day. As the air warms up, it expands (which means PSI goes up). If you were starting with warmer air, there would be less of a change in temperature after multiple laps.
