I would agree with most of this.
However, having owned a Giulia for 2 years and now owning a G20 I'll say the Alfa 4-pot is a great engine. It's not underpowered at all and I found it to be very smooth. Sure it doesn't have M340 power but it pulls hard and I never wanted for more power.

To me what lets the Giulia down are 1) the interior. Specifically the seats (unless you get the TI sport interior pack) and the infotainment system. 2) the limited number of dealers and hit or miss dealer experience. The closest dealer to me was 1.5 hours away. To be fair they offered free valet service and would always leave a Maserati loaner. Bu some of those dealers are paired with Chrysler Jeep dealer and they didn't get nearly the same service level.
