F30 dates back to 2012, I believe. BMW chose to redesign the 3 series after the 7, 5, X3, X5, X4.
The G20 3 Series, when it comes out, will be the newest platform/vehicle in the category. I am sure that it will equal or beat the Audi A4, possibly the Mercedes C300, and for sure the Genesis G70.
