My next car is going to be a BEV. I like the way my 530e drives (I would have liked the way the 545e drives even better but BMW won't sell it in the US) so I wanted to stay with BMW But the new cars are so terribly ugly. I might have been able to ignore the grille on the I4 40 if it had more HP and on the I4 50 if it had more range. I test drove the IX and liked the way it drove but the entire vehicle is truly ugly.
So...as of now...I have reserved a Lucid Air and a Cadillac Lyriq (as a backup). I had hoped that the I5 would meet my needs (a bigger vehicle has more room for bigger batteries) but what I have seen suggests that the I5 will have the same power train as the I4.
I am also curious about the Porsche Macan electric but Porsche hasn't released the specs so it could get in my mix.
I wonder if the range limitations on the I4/I5 relate to the platform being a multiuse platform rather than a skateboard platform?
