My "20k in 1995" was a rhetorical thing.

My POINT is the economy and inflation.

What was once 20k in 1995 isn't 20K in PRESENT day.

You see it all the time, people complaining about prices of cars. When in reality prices have been adjusted to inflation.
Has anyone argued that the Supra should be free? It's based on a BMW chassis that's replacing a car that was a $50k four banger or easily a $70k six cylinder.

The problem for Toyota, or anyone really, is that a Corvette is $55k and generally has great incentives, and a Corvette and Mustang are significantly cheaper and offer impressive performance.

The 370Z has been in that no mans land forever and barely sells. What magic act can Toyota bring to this fight that no one else has? The MkIV was an impressive car, but was a sales flop, like the 300Z, RX7 and Porkpie 3000GT.
