It would be really lame if BMW slapped some red paint on the SAME calipers, gave you some slotted (not drilled) rotors and called it M-Performance.

That is literally what is happening.
The caliper body is identical in every way, with the exception for the red paint.
Brake pad part number (34106888459) is the same for both the red M Perf brakes and also cars optioned with S33TA.
