Same here, and I decided to get it as

1. A dedicated Dashcam doesn't look as nice (they're better nowadays!)
2. Dash cams dont have 4 angles like the drive recorder
3. Hooks into in car telemetry, just more integrated

Exactly my reasons. Really liked the idea of side cameras too.
