Uh, you might be looking at some marketing material. The real curb weight of the F90 M5 is closer to 4400 lbs. Maybe 4300. Even the M340i RWD model weighs about 3900 lbs. The M340xi already weighs about 4000 lbs. The AWD M3 will likely weigh at least 4000 lbs. It should satisfy the people who just want to show off and drag race at the stoplight, though.
It makes complete sense for the manual M3 to be RWD only. AWD sales would be way too low.
