It isn't actually flimsy, but...why does it matter how a grille feels in person? It isn't a part of a car you actually interact with.
Have you felt the grilles of a Lexus, Audi, or MB? They're all plastic because they don't need to be anything else. In fact, I'd bet making them out of any kind of metal, resulting in them being more "sturdy," would cause them to fare poorly in pedestrian impacts.
Back on topic, this is really odd seeing one in person, completely uncovered, with exposed badges everywhere. It isn't due to be released for some time and they're always covered in some way before then. |
