No idea if you can pull a fuse to leave it open since that might trigger a CEL.
But there’s a thread in the X3 forum where people cut plastic tabs to leave the slats open permanently. A CEL isn’t triggered since the motor works but it isn’t attached to the slats. Only problem is that it is irreversible unless you get new parts.
