The problem with the 8 series is that it is a 6 series moved up market, which means there is little reason to pay an extra $35k for it over an M5c. A CSL model with significant differences
may actually sell.
The CSL hommage from a few years ago is even larger than the 8 series. It would have to be ~5% larger than the Supra/Z4 platform to really compete with the 911/AMG GT. I would love to see BMW put out an equitable car, but it may be tough without significant weight reduction and putting the weight in the right places which may be difficult with such a long motor
