So I took my car in for its first service today and advised the SA that I did not want my car washed as I'm OCD with the paint- always use correct washing techniques to ensure I don't introduce swirls or scratches. After the service i get to my car and lo and behold... it's been washed and obviously someone's used a dirty cloth as there's marring across the c pillar, boot, doors and fenders in fact on most panels. So I speak to the service manager who apologised profusely but didn't offer any kind of corrective action. After insisting that the issue needs to be fixed he offers to have the car polished at the dealership. If they do this it'll remove the ceramic coating which means either way I lose as I paid a lot of $ to have it detailed and coated to begin with!

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any thoughts, suggestions appreciated

Thanks
Have had the exact same thing happen with me. The dealer and I got into a big argument on compensation and in the end convinced me that if I wasn't happy I could keep bringing it back to them so I obliged.

The result ? Yes, a lot of the swirls were gone however they left holograms behind with the polisher so actually looks worse in the right light ! Luckily I've got it booked for ceramic coating once the stage 4 restrictions lift so those defects will be corrected as part of the process.

Moving on, the car had to go in for the tie rod recall a few and guess what? They washed it again even though I requested a no wash and my customer profile says no wash as well! And didn't even dry it ! Left water spots on the car when they delivered it back ! I was furious and same old story.

Rest assured I'm not taking my car back to them in the future.
