Not that I keep my cars longer than about three years but extended warranty always looks good to the next buyer. Almost $5k for two additional years, seems like extortion.

Extra two years warranty insurance was quoted for $2500 by South Yarra BMW here in Melbourne. $5k seems a bit excessive. Anyway, one should be protected by consumer law if any major faults beyond the 3yr warranty period. It's a bit of a grey area but my understanding is that BMW is better than the other German brands at supporting its customers. |
I was quoted $2.9k for the 2 years extended. I ended up getting it because I had so many warranty claims with my 428 and the last 2 were out of warranty - managed to get BMW to cover the cost but it was a bit of struggle so just decided to play it safe this time.
