It's all a matter of perspective and point of reference. For someone like me who came from an Infiniti Q50 (and a Lexus IS before that) both of which had very soft seats and soft suspensions, the standard suspension setup in the M340i is pretty shocking. I'm only now starting to get used to it a month into it. And even then my expectations get reset anytime I take out the X5 for a drive with its air suspension that makes it feel like it's gliding over bumps and imperfections.

I never bothered to try out the adaptive suspension but kind of wishing I had. Regardless, I'm not complaining. This car handles significantly better than my previous two, and that to me is well worth the extra bumps in my commute.
