Sort of both? We had planned to order later this year, but noticed our dealer's web site listed an m340i almost exactly like what we would have ordered (highly unusual), and the deal was right. Turned out it was not yet in stock--so we sort of adopted a car-in-process.
This is the second time with this dealer that already had what we wanted when I expected to have to order. When my m235i vert came off lease, I went to talk to them about ordering and they had a perfectly optioned m240i vert sitting on the lot.
