I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the *50i badge land on the B58 some day when the N68 (presumed name of the next iteration of the V8) is here and moves on to the *55i badge. Or, if we make the assumption the I6's lifespan will go beyond the V8's (which seems reasonably likely) I suppose the sky is the limit in numbering for the I6.

After all, in decades past, both the 30i and 40i monikers originated on V8 models (of 3L and 4L displacement, fittingly). And the 50i nameplate was reserved for the V12.

Right, but the M245i badge is being associated here with the next generation G42 4 Series coupe which will be a CLAR-based offering. So we are most probably talking about a new iteration of the B58.

Don't expect any FAAR product above M*35i anytime soon.

Thus...there is room in the lineup for a M140i we thought but no, perhaps it is the M145i. Will no doubt be a version of the B47 with hybrid help taking it nearer 400Hp. Still transverse mounting etc as the chassis defines this.

Hope that all made sense.
I don't disagree we'll see performance FAAR-based PHEV vehicles sometime this decade. However, I'd expect those to be branded M*35e or perhaps M*40e.
