FINALLY! A proper comparison that actually matches purpose built machines. I've been very critical of the past videos posted showing M340i drag race proper M cars, and they are all a waste. M cars are not geared or refined for drag races (M240i vs M2 and M340i vs F8X are proof of this) nor are current M cars AWD. THIS VIDEO, however is a proper match up. Heavy AWD Touring cars (wagons in this case) in a straight line. BMW has proven how impressive the M340i is as a touring car/wagon even against a more powerful and more expensive full on RS car.

A few points though:

1) How much time passed between each drag? I would guess that the RS, being more performance oriented, might have more cooling, which means the M340i might have lost the last 2 due to heat soak, which is also something the M cars have over the touring M340i.

2) What tires did each have?

3) RS brakes probably more performance oriented, or again, could still be hot from previous runs etc.

4) I still get bored with drag races, but at least this is a valid comparison, again kudos to the M340i!
