I made sure my dealership approved of my set up. I think maybe we over thinking things here. Maybe a BMW tech could chime in on the topic.
I think charging from the jump terminals under hood provides extra surge protection for the rest of sensitive electronics in the car, while charging directly through the battery terminals does not.
