IMHO, change your oil and execute an oil analysis(e.g. blackstone labs). Then you can decide in the future when to change your oil. The oil being used in the M340i is 0W-20. I used 5W-30 Redline oil (class V oil)in my N54 and did not operate beyond 9K miles before changing. Much different from my Wife's NA Volvo, where I could get 15K miles easily. The turbos break down the oil from the heat stresses. When I receive my M340(hopefully in a couple weeks), I will be changing mine no more than 5K miles to validate how the engine is wearing. I keep my vehicles for a long time (I've owned my 335i for 13.5 years 160k miles).
