The star mark denotes BMW homologation. It's not a given that star = Runflat as there are cases where they have OE tyres that are non Runflat.

Mercedes have MO, Porsche have N.

If you take a 225/40R18 Pirelli as an example, they'll make a tyre with each of these markings (and many others)

It's driven by what the car maker wants to achieve.
Benz probably want to waft in comfort whereas Porsche likely want max grip. Same tyre size, same tread patterns, very different behaviours.


Can you tell I've spent 25yrs in the tyre trade? 😁
