I posted elsewhere from an article that the reason that BMW charges for CarPlay is to offset development/support costs from the wireless implementation. Meanwhile, have we seen a software update that didn't require a dealer visit?
I can only hope that BMW can via a software update allow for wired CarPlay, so it can work as well as it did in the Chevy I rented a few weeks ago... |
I don't think iDrive updates impact vehicle driving related items (at least they didn't in past vehicle models), but I could be wrong. Items that impact vehicle performance are updated via a different methodology at your dealer.
I'm interested in hearing about if it fixes CarPlay issues, though.
