I will not be allowing any more software updates to be applied to my car (either automatically or at a dealer) after 03/2021.50 ruined the sound of the exhaust of my 2020 M340i. I also worry that, even though England is not a vassal state of the EU, the EU will still want car manufacturers to apply retrospective updates in a pan European way, imposing things we all hate like compulsory start/stop engine shut off and, horror of horrors, auto following of speed limits! A number of my friends have recently ditched buying new “Smart / Connected” cars because of “Big Brother Mission Creep” (e.g. the outrageous constant ability to track cars via so called “Emergency” SOS function - U.K. police forces have already had to admit they have done this following Freedom of Information request,) and I think I will look for a non Smart / Connected car next time.
