Had the base of my palm resting on the console and my fingers lightly grazing the surfaces. Suddenly the music (playing on car from iPhone) sped up as if I were holding down the FFWD button, through the end of one song and into another.

I checked the Gesture Control section of the manual and it didn’t describe anything like that. Is this a hidden “feature” in iDrive?
